Recap of Summer

I'm a bit behind on posting all our summer fun, so here is a recap:

Loudoun County Fair

I love a good county fair. We took Jack last year and he had a great time. This year we went in the evening. We spent some time on the rides and then did a quick tour of the animals. Jack was a little disappointed that the dragon roller coaster wasn't there this year. We tried to stay for the Demolition Derby, but Jack was not feeling well. He said his stomach hurt and was ready to go. He finished his cotton candy on the way home. That is what every doctor recommends for an upset stomach!

Henry love food
Henry loves to eat his meals. He gets so excited and slaps his arm like a penguin. He has a special eating technique. He takes a bite and then sticks in a thumb or a toe. I guess it needs a little salt! He prefers to drink from a straw, but will take a regular sippy too. He hasn't turned down any food yet. He loves all his fruits and veggies!

Jack's basketball class
We signed Jack up for a basketball class. He likes to play, but informed me that he has taken enough basketball classes now. He had a good coach that was patient with all the kids. Jack did a great job with his dribbling, passing, and shooting. This fall he will try soccer. He is very excited about playing on a real soccer field with his shin guards and soccer ball.

Henry's blessing
Henry was blessed by his Harabogee (Grandfather) and Uncle Dave at our home a few weeks ago. It was great to have so many family members participate. My mom and siblings came from Idaho/Utah and my in-laws made a special trip down from Michigan. We also had family from Penn., Maryland, and Richmond. We really appreciated everyone gathering for such a special event.

Family visit
My Mom and the kids came to visit. We celebrated two birthdays, a baby blessing, and had lots of fun in the middle. Catherine turned 11 and Christian turned 14. We had a great time with the water balloon sling shot. We hit the side walk of the house across the street. Way fun! We also took time to go peach and blackberry picking, canoe around the lake, and fish. Catherine caught a large mouth bass on the tiny Diego fishing pole. Jake (18) got a small sunfish of some sort and Christian caught another small fish. It was so fun to be able to spend time with everyone.

Boys gone wild
What would my day be without some funny boys! Jack can be so creative. He likes to play dress-up and show off his creations. Both boys make the best faces! Jack is a great big brother and teaches Henry lots of things.

Color Day
To make our summer a little more interesting, I came up with some "fun" days. Jack loved chocolate chip day so much, I thought we should add a few more to our calendar. Color Day was all about finding colors around us. Jack insisted that we dress in one color head to toe. He had a red shirt, red shorts, and red underwear. I wore blue and Henry wore orange. We played lots of eye spy in the car and Jack took pictures of different colored objects. We put it all together in a book at the end of the day. For dinner we had colored pasta. We still have Alphabet Day and Number Day to fit in before school starts again.

Dinosaur Land
Jack earned a trip to Dinosaur Land for being such a good listener. He is very interested in dinosaurs right now. He really likes T-Rex and other meat eaters. It's only at 45 minute ride to White Post, VA to see all the huge dinosaur statues. Jack's favorite was, of course, T-Rex. He also liked the smaller ones that were about his size. All in all it was a fun trip. Jack was a very happy camper!
