Last Friday, the boys and I took a train from Brunswick, MD (about 30 minutes from our house) into Union Station in DC. We'd been looking forward to this trip all summer and it was a great adventure! The train had a double-decker car that the boys really had fun sitting in. The views were much better sitting higher up on the train.
Once we arrived at Union Station, we got on the Big Bus to tour around town. This was the highlight for Henry. He kept asking if we were going to sit on top so we could feel the wind! We were able to hop on and off wherever we wanted through out DC. A perfect way to see the city! It cut down on walking time and helped minimize complaining!
Our first stop was the Jefferson Memorial. The boys liked all the big steps and the huge statue of Thomas Jefferson. Jack had a great time using his Itouch to take pictures of everything!
We also stopped by the FDR and MLK Memorials. The artist/sculptor of the MLK Memorial was actually there working on it, which was pretty cool.
We were able to meet up with Aunt Laura and Uncle Brent for lunch near the Navy Memorial. Teaism was a yummy treat. Jack downed a big bowl of miso soup and Henry spent most of his time admiring the koi pond.
After lunch, we went to the boy's favorite museum, the Natural History Museum. Uncle Brent joined us for a fun adventure through dinosaurs, gems, bugs, and the required visit with Henry the Elephant! Henry gets a big kick out of the fact that the huge elephant in the main lobby is named Henry!
Finally, we were onto our last stop, the White House. We were all tired, but Jack was determined to get a picture. One picture of the East Wing and we were back on the bus to Union Station. The boys were great company and we all truly had a great experience together! One for the memory books for sure!

Ok so many great faces from Henry in this one. LOVE the white house face. So hilarious. So glad you guys had fun and we loved seeing you!
